Pixomondo intends to open its doors by the end of 2020
International VFX company Pixomondo, whose credits include The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, Perry Mason and Raised By Wolves, is opening a new $7.5 million virtual production studio in Toronto which it hopes to have ready by the end of 2020. The new facility, said to be the largest of its type in the world, will offer equipment rental and on-set staff, with 3D artists on hand to create virtual environments. The facility will use Epic Games’ Unreal real-time gaming engine and LED screens from ROE Visual with NVIDIA Quadro GPU acceleration.
“It’s fantastic to be able to finally announce these new facilities, which represent a major milestone for PXO and a significant additional investment into our Toronto base. I am also delighted to be able to announce the involvement of Epic, ROE, NVIDIA, and (equipment rental company) William F. White, each of whom has been instrumental in supporting and facilitating our plan to bring a facility of this kind to one of the world’s largest production hubs.”Jonny Slow, CEO, Pixomondo
