Students use new NFTS VP studio to make ‘Reality Heist’ short

Reality Heist is a five-minute original story of a scientist who can skip dimensions at the flick of a switch. The short, which was made by a team of students at the National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield, blends traditionally rendered photorealistic CGI with in-camera visual effects and was shot on the NFTS’s new virtual production stageunder the supervision of Head of VFX Ian Murphy.

The project offered students their first opportunity to work in this much more dynamic, collaborative environment rather than be either on-set or sat at a monitor crafting and rendering CGI using Maya and Nuke as well as Unreal Engine, but seldom or never both.
