Unite 2022 to feature world’s first multi-destination, cross-platform virtual concert

Working with creative partners VRrOOm on VRChat, Future Fest and Volta, Unity will broadcast a first of its kind multi-destination and cross-platform virtual concert featuring TikTok bass sensation Blu DeTiger at its Unite 2022 event on 1 November.

The performance, which will be covered from multiple camera angles and synced with VJ visuals, will be broadcast to multiple virtual Made With Unity (MWU) real-time 3D (RT3D) destinations and simulcast to custom stages and digital billboards in virtual show platforms VRrOOm and Future Fest.

VRrOOm were previously responsible for producing a well-received interactive live concert in the digital twin of Notre Dame for Jean-Michel Jarre. They are currently building their own social VR platform dedicated to live entertainment.

“Live Entertainment has gone through a seismic shift, and virtualized, augmented and interactive shows have become industry staples. Here, with Unite’s Virtual Concert, we have taken it a step further by designing a system for interoperable content that is essentially limitless – we can now simulcast live and on-demand performances into multiple virtual real-time 3D destinations, across platforms, to a global audience,.

We are so excited to be forging this new intersection of games and entertainment with Blu, Xite Labs and Made with Unity platforms VRrOOm, Future Fest and Volta for this first of its kind, multi-destination virtual concert.”

Boo Wong, Director of Live Entertainment, Unity

Future Fest is a fully navigable 3D world with unique, customisable player characters called “FutureBots” where players can have different preferences for how immersed they would want to be when they consume their content.

Volta is a self-serve XR creation platform powered by Unity that was used by Deadmau5, Nero, Machinedrum and Iann Dior for 2022 live shows as well as at Glastonbury. It was voted one of Time Magazine’s 100 Best Inventions of 2021.

In-person Unite events will be held in five locations on 1 November – Austin, Brighton, Copenhagen, Montreal, and San Francisco.. Unite attendees from around the world will be able to connect and socialise around the event and enter the concert as avatars at one of two interactive destinations or just sit back and enjoy the livestream.
