UK is #10 on list of countries most badly affected by ransomware


A report commissioned by Google puts the UK at number 10 on a list of countries worst affected by ransomware and facing a similar number of active strains as South Korea, Vietnam, China, Singapore, India, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, and Iran.

GandCrab is the most active ransomware ‘family’, according to the report, claiming more than 54,000 victims across 100 countries, including the UK. The second and third most active are Babuk and Cerber. Windows is hackers’ main focus, accounting for 95% of the ransomware targets.
