Europol spearheads operation to snare twelve cybercriminals


Twelve cyber criminals suspected of targeting at least 1,800 victims have been intercepted in raids in the Ukraine and Switzerland. The operation was the result of cooperation between authorities from Norway, France, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Germany, Britain, Switzerland and the United States, together with Europol and Eurojust, the European Union’s agency for judicial cooperation. No confirmation of arrests has been issued. Police seized more than $50,000 in in cash plus vehicles and computer hardware in the raids

One of the targets, Norsk Hydro ASA, refused to pay the hackers and lost money measured in the tens of millions of dollars as a result.
