Collaboration focus at Las Vegas infosec conferences

Echoing NCSC CEO Lindy Cameron’s speeches aimed at business leaders, at the recent Black Hat and DEF CON security conferences in Las Vegas, high on the agenda was the US government’s attempts to foster more collaboration across the infosec industry. Jen Easterly, the new Security Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency was on hand to announce the Joint Cyber Defence Collaborative (JCDC), a public / private initiative to head of security incidents, share data and skills and improve training.

While Microsoft, AWS, Google and several US telcos have already signed up, the emphasis was on attracting independent organisations to participate. We can expect similar initiatives to only increase and we’ll be reporting on them here.
