Deluxe Entertainment Services bought by Platinum Equity


Deluxe Entertainment Services, the distribution side of the business, has been bought by Platinum Equity. Deluxe’s creative services companies, EFILM, Company 3, Encore and VFX outfit Method Studios are not part of the deal.

Cyril Drabinsky, who left Deluxe in 2016 to found CineVizion, which was also acquired by Platinum Equity and whose digital cinema services will be folded into Deluxe’s business, will be CEO.

Deluxe Entertainment Services’ lines of business include localisation (subtitling and dubbing), digital cinema (mastering, key generation and distribution to cinemas), home entertainment (compression, encoding and authorising) and fulfilment (encryption, transcoding and distribution of films and TV content).

The Hollywood Reporter’s Carolyn Giardina tells us that Platinum Equity manages around $23 billion of assets in a portfolio of approximately 40 operating companies including thee Detroit Pistons Sports and Entertainment and live concert and events company 313 Presents.
