Pathway opens in Manchester while Target3D head down under

In partnership with HP, who will provide powerful new Z-series workstations and its Engineering Emmy award-winning HP Anywhere technology,, Pathway in Manchester has opened a new £1 million, 6,000 square foot production facility and Innovation Lab dedicated to the development of real-time virtual production and in-camera visual effects (ICVFX).

The facility in Trafford Park includes a 5,000 square foot soundstage, in-house Virtual Art Department, make-up, wardrobe and dailies room. The LED wall uses ROE Visual Ruby LED panels powered by MegaPixel’s VR Helios processing platform.

Meanwhile, using a NZ$2 million government grant (from the Queenstown Economic Transformation and Resilience Fund), UK-based motion graphics, performance capture and virtual production specialists Target3D are establishing a studio in a new multi-million dollar research and innovation complex in Queenstown on New Zealand’s South Island.

Facility manager Shannon Dowsing, who worked for Target3D in the UK before returning to his home turf, confirmed that the facility, which is due to open in early 2024, will cost NZ$6 million in total and employ 6 permanent staff and up to 45 during busy production periods.
