Bring your analogue stills camera back to digital life

If you have a favourite analogue SLR camera that you’d like to start using again but you don’t want to get into the rigmarole of processing film, you might be interested in I’m Back Film. It’s a drop-in digital film cartridge containing, to keep costs down, a 20-megapixel Micro Four Thirds image sensor (2x crop factor compared to a full-frame image sensor). When combined with a wide-angle adapter it can achieve the same field of view as a 35mm camera.

A Sony IMX 269 sensor is paired with an NT9853 processor and a 1.5-inch LCD. RAW and JPEG images are captured to an SD memory card and there’s Wi-Fi connectivity so they can be automatically transferred to another digital device. Black-and-white and colour presets are included, one each inspired by Kodachrome and Fujifilm. The sensor can also record 4K UHD video at up to 60 fps.

“Currently, the world of photography has mainly seen new lens releases and improvements to existing digital cameras. However, ‘I’m Back Film’ offers something truly unique. It allows photographers to revisit their old analog cameras, many of which are gathering dust on shelves. This not only opens up new creative possibilities but also helps preserve the history of photography”
