Teen drone maker launches Teal

Those with a technical bent will be familiar with teenage science projects,. How many of you can say you were involved in or witnessed something as impressive as a 17 year old launching a business to market the world’s fastest commercial drone? The Teal drone, which costs $1,300 in the US, ships complete with a Follow Me feature and a wide angle 4K camera that can also capture 13 Megapixel still images and can be controlled from a smartphone.

NVIDIA Jetson TX1

The Teal OS allows this fairly ordinary-looking drone to be turned into a development platform. It’s powered by the NVIDIA Jetson TX1, making it a mini flying supercomputer that can handle machine learning, autonomous flight and image recognition. You can even plug your Teal into a monitor and use it like a normal computer.

If you can get your hands on one during the lockdown, it sounds like an excellent, if quite expensive view of your neighbourhood, or, as you can see above, take the dog for a walk, though for the sake of the mutt, please keep the speed down.
