How the pandemic is hitting televised sport

Will Strauss is Editor of SVG Europe, which “supports the professional community in Europe that uses video, audio, and broadband technologies to produce and distribute sports content“. He will be a regular contributor on the Informed Sauce podcast. Here he is doing his day job.

In the third of three joint webcasts with the IABM (International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers), he talks to Alessandro Reitano, director of sports production, Sky Germany, Brian Clark, NEP Major Events‘ sales director and Euro Media Group‘s director of operations Timo Koch about how COVID-19 and the lockdown have affected them and their companies.

The conversation then turns to post-lockdown and how sport will be covered behind-closed-doors and what the OB compound might look like, and how it might operate, in the coming months.

And, in the first edition of the new Informed Sauce podcast (from Thursday May 14), I talk to Will and HPE’s UK-based Chief Technologist for AI Matt Armstrong-Barnes about televising this week’s German Bundesliga and the wider aspects of football’s return to our screens.
