Singapore puts up $3.6m to drive virtual production

Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is launching a $3.6 million virtual production innovation fund to help attract international partners to the city state and develop local talent. IMDA is partnering with the UK’s National Film and Television School (NFTS) to create a certificate in virtual production course for local professionals. The next 12 months will also see the introduction of a series of masterclasses and workshops.

IMDA will fund up to 50% of the cost of short-form projects of approximately three to 10 minutes such as music videos, short films and brand commercials.

Shortlisted projects from an industry challenge being staged early in 2023 will receive direct mentorship from Epic Games and prize money from IMDA for the production of their projects.
